Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Chicksands

Bangkok Lounge Shefford

2 Bedford Rd, Shefford SG17 5DJ, UK – 01462 338292

Very busy Thai good service, food so so, mass produced meals, precooked sauces with various different meats/shell fish plunked in.

Food was very authentic but I thought overpriced considering there was very little actual chicken or veg in my red curry. Filled up on the rice but how much does a little more chicken cost? Decor and service was faultless.

Shefford Tandoori

8 High St, Shefford SG17 5DG, UK – 01462 816151

Been here a few times and never really had a bad night. Food is always good. Not quite 5 star for my latest experience due to a wait although booking a table which impacted on the reception area and the other diners due to being a large party waiting and other people coming in for their takeout orders, a order getting missed from the initial order and the gents toilet being blocked. Though the down side of this review, the place is great and I haven't experienced any of the other negatives of the other reviewers, i will book and eat here again due to the good food and the atmosphere.

Usually friendly with good service and tasty food. Would recommend booking first cos it does get very busy

The Black Horse

Ireland,, Shefford SG17 5QL, UK – 01462 811398

My wife and I visited for dinner on a Saturday and there was a lively buzz, even at 7pm. The menu wasn't as extensive as I'd hoped, but the quality was fantastic and the service was quick and polite. We had a lovely meal and would definitely visit again.

I last went to this 'gastro pub' over 10 years ago and even though it is over 45 minutes from home, I decided that it was time I went again. The table was booked easily on open table and then amended a few times as we added 2 people and changed the time. The staff were very friendly when we arrived and I ordered a pint of their stout (which was lovely). We were showed to our table and ordered after having given the right amount of time to look at the menu. My beef was lovely (see picture) as were the steak and fish and the white wine with the meal was also very good (I was not driving!). I had the rum baba for dessert and friends shared the cheese board, which they loved. Nice touch was extra crackers appearing when it was noticed by the waiter that we had run out. Not an expensive meal for the quality of food and happy to recommend to anyone
